R Engine And Performance Specs

Nissan's most powerful car the Skyline GT-R. The car is loaded with a massive 6 cylinder 3799 cc engine which runs at a power of 570 PS @ 6800 rpm giving out a maximum torque of 637 Nm @ 3300-5800 rpm. While essentially a rear-wheel-drive car, up 50 percent of engine torque can transfer to the front wheels when required; the hydraulically activated system using the ABS sensors to detect rear-wheel slip.

However, the GT-R must contend with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911, two cars with lower price tags that are also easier to attain. An engine designed to answer the demands of a supercar for the 21st century, the VR38 is high-performance, while still being fuel-efficient and conscious of the environment.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is a bit of an enigma. In 1996 Nissan decided to build a road-going special edition based on its GT-R Le Mans car. Although the torch is now carried by the R35 GT-R, a car that has dispensed with the Skyline badge, the last of the Skyline GT-R models, the R34, remains the definitive Playstation generation car.

Big grip and big power Nissan Skyline GT-R can put a hurting on a transmission, but the GT-R's five-speed is pretty stout. Revised ergonomics puts control at your fingertips, for an easier drive, while new hand-selected and hand-crafted materials create an environment that will get your pulse racing - even before you start the engine.

The GT-R Track Edition is similar but receives the Nismo's suspension, chassis and interior upgrades (see below). It's the first Datsun sportscar imported to the US (the L means left-hand drive) and even the Japanese couldn't buy them. Over the past 10 years the GT-R went from about 485 horsepower to the 565bhp model today, honed continuously to become the far evolved car it is now.

A reinforced dual-clutch sequential six-speed rear transaxle and stronger differentials and drive shafts direct the power to the wheels and a revised suspension has been developed with BILSTEIN continuously adjustable damping system. GT-R have always been the most valued of the Skyline lot, but anyone with a properly cared for Hakosuka or Kenmeri deserves props, too, for keeping roots alive.

MASTER CRAFTSMEN BREATHE LIFE INTO THE GT-R, CREATING A UNIQUELY HUMAN VISION OF A SUPERCAR. With a nickname like Godzilla, the Nissan Skyline GT-R rivals supercars many times its cost. Since the new Le Mans car is one of the fastest motorsport vehicles in the world, viewers can watch and control the film in slow motion to get a better glimpse of all its components.
